Caution: Busy Weekend Ahead

Summer's winding down; which means it's getting close to harvest time. For locavores, there's lots going on in Seattle this weekend.

Melrose Street Festival.jpgSaturday: Tilth holds its annual Harvest Fair in the park behind the Good Shepherd Center in Wallingford. From 10 AM until dusk, free.

Sunday: The tenants of the Melrose Market bust out! Melrose Avenue, between Pike and Pine, will become the Melrose Market Street Festival, with food, wine and music from 10 AM to 8 PM. Free.

Sunday: Urban Picnic at Rainier Square, sponsored by the Saattle Chefs Collaborative to benefit the Quillisascut Farm School's scholarship fund. From 1 to 4 PM. Admission is $60 through Brown Paper Tickets.

Sunday: Blend, a wine and food event sponsored by Columbia Hospitality (a hotel management company) at Bell Harbor Conference Center, 2211 Alaskan Way, Pier 66. The event begins at 2 PM with a hands-on wine seminar ($15) on the art of blending, followed by a tasting from 4 to 7:30 ($59) put on by a score of local wineries and restaurants.
