Had you been in Paris this weekend, you'd know they celebrate St. Paddy's there, too, and with the great enthusiasm reserved for another culture's drinking holidays. (Think Cinco di Mayo.) The French tweak the Brits as mercilessly as we tweak, say, the Canadians; they even have a special name for them: Les Rosbifs. The Brits, of course, respond by calling their across-the-Channel neighbors Frogs. You gonna eat that?
As it happened (this was in 2007), Cornichon was on a midnight run to get a prescription filled, and found crowds of Parisians outside the Irish pubs of the Marais.
