Noo Yawk firm gives PR a bad name

Bartell PR.pngDunno, folks. A PR firm in Big Appletown launched an email maybe 15 minutes ago announcing a "media opportunity" at 1 o'clock this afternoon. Does Noo Yawk really think Seattle's such a sleepy backwater that we've got nothing better to do than wait breathlessly for "media opportunities"?

And what, precisely, is this opportunity? Well! You get to interview a guy named Jay Kordich, who's described as "the father of juicing." He's in town for the "grand reopening" of a Bartells drug store on Queen Anne. Wow.

So this Grand Reopening has been in the works for a while, right? And Mr. Kordich's trip to the Emerald City has been in the works for, who knows, but certainly more than a day or two. Yet nobody thought to send out a news release until this morning? No invitations until three hours before the event?

The offending PR firm is Trent & Company, working on behalf of the juice guy (not Bartells because there are two Bartells stores on Queen Anne); the hapless account exec (who also manages to mis-spell Queen Anne) is Marina Maib, and I sincerely hope that the next time they contact me, it's by subpoena.
