Days, even weeks go by and there's not much news. Snooze-nooz, maybe. And then it begins to pile up.

  • Blaine Wetzel, up on Lummi Island, is named one of the nation's best "unknown" chefs.

  • Diane Lavonne (of Diane's Market Kitchen) starts up free cooking classes in the Market.

  • Angela Stowell (that's her on the left with her husband, Ethan, and in-laws) gets named to the Seattle Business Journal's prestigious "40 Under 40" list.

  • Sommelier Yashar Shayan starts up a promising online wine shop.

  • Amazon headquarters gets picketed by self-appointed "animal rights activists" because the website dares to sell foie gras. It's enough to drive you to drink.

  • Fortunately, Canon's cocktail list was named World's Best Drink Selection by the national Tales of the Cocktail conference in New Orleans.

  • And Nordstrom at Bellevue Square will unveil a new cocktail bar this week.

There! Are we done? For now, anyway.
