Westy coming to West Seattle

West_Seattle_collage.pngIf you live south of the Ship Canal and drive a Saab or a Volvo (or a Subaru or even a Mini), you probably know about the intersection of 35th Avenue SW and SW Kenyon: it's the home of Swedish Automotive.

The next time you take your car in for service, cross the street and grab a pint at Locöl. Say hi to the owner, a genial gent named Shane Whittall. And look ahead to October, when two Belltown bar managers will join him in running a new sports bar next door: The Westy.

The Belltowners are Paul Ritums, currently at Local 360, and JP Vidican, who runs the bar at Black Bottle.

They're converting the commercial space to restaurant use. Alas, the city screwed up the Land Use Action sign, which will cost a two-week delay all by itself. When they do open, look for a higher end menu along with barrel-aged cocktails.
