It's one of the most exciting arias in opera, known by its first line, "Ah, mes amis." Sung at McCaw Hall by tenor Lawrence Brownlee in the first act of Gaetano Donizetti's lively "La Fille du Régiment," it features nine thrilling high-C notes. Not an easy feat: Luciano Pavarotti could do it; Juan Diego Flores did it at the Met a couple of seasons ago.

Brownlee is a veteran of the Seattle Opera's Young Artists Program, and performed here most recently in The Barber of Seville. His costar, then as now, is the radiant soprano Sarah Coburn.

Performances continue through November 2nd.
